 Dream House for Kids
Hey guys,
The volunteer event for June will be held at the Dream House for Kids. If you don’t know what the Dream House for Kids is, it is a transitional care organization that provides medical, educational, and housing services for medically fragile children. You can find more information here. They are doing some extensive renovations to their new Transitional Care home, and they need our help!
Here are the details:
Address: Check back in a bit.
Date and Time: Saturday, June 19th, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Activity: Outdoor renovation and repair work
Things to Bring: Heavy duty gardening or work gloves, mosquito repellent.
Note: You do not need to bring any tools to the event! The Transitional Care Home has all the tools we will need on site. Wear clothes that you can get dirty in.
There is plenty of volunteer work available at the Transitional Care Home, so depending on how many people volunteer to help, we can adjust the activities to maximize our efficiency at the Transitional Care Home. This volunteer event goes until 2:00 PM in the afternoon, so we’ll either order pizza for lunch (bring cash!) or travel somewhere close to grab something to eat and then head back to the Transitional Care Home. Hope to see you there!

Are you interested in wine or jazz? Well then, mark your calendars!
KAC is hosting a wine tasting event in lieu of a June Happy Hour on June 5th, 2010, the first Saturday of June. If you are a wine lover, this will be your favorite KAC event because we will have a plenty of high quality wine! If you do not know much about wine, this will be a great chance to learn about wine through tasting different kinds of wine and listening to a short presentation from a winery employee. Following the wine tasting event, a live jazz concert will take place at the same venue, Churchill Grounds.
It costs $5 per person to taste wine and snack on appetizers. Please take advantage of this once-a-year KAC ATL members appreciation event!
Address: 660 Peachtree Street Northeast, Atlanta GA 30375 (Churchill Grounds Venue)
Date and Time: June 5th, 2010, 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm
Note: KAC ATL Members Only
Please keep in mind that the event is a members only event to show appreciation to the KAC ATL members and to strengthen the relationships between our members. Non-members will not be accepted to the event; however, if you are not yet a member, you can sign up and become a member at the event. A 1 year Professional Membership is $30. The wine tasting for June will be members only, but we will go back to the standard “open” Happy Hours in July. Please check out the “Join Us” page on the left menu for more information on membership!
Hope to see you guys there!

I hope your week is going well. I wanted to announce the May KAC Volunteer Event, which will be held at the Dunwoody Beer Festival at Perimeter Mall. The event will be from 4:00 – 6:30 PM on Saturday, May 15th. We will mainly be serving beer and engaging in the festivities. The beerfest will be held in the parking lot at Perimeter Mall, so if you drive around the parking lot long enough, you should be able to spot it. In case you don’t know where Perimeter Mall is, please click here. Also, you or any friend you bring MUST be 21+ years old in order to participate at this volunteer event.
Please note that the beerfest is for a good cause! This is from the Dunwoody Beer Festival’s website – “All proceeds from the beerfest will go to Camp Twin Lakes, where young spirits soar. Camp Twin Lakes is a not-for-profit that offers year-round recreational, therapeutic, and educational programs for children facing serious illnesses and other physical, emotional and life challenges. With its network of partners, Camp Twin Lakes provides life-changing experiences for thousands of children each year at its state-of-the-art, fully accessible facility, located on 500 acres in Rutledge, Georgia, and at other locations throughout the state.”
We have 30 slots open for volunteers, so please look out for the sign up sheet at the Happy Hour, on Facebook, and on Evite. We will be taking the first 30 people who can commit to the beerfest. In the off-chance that you wish to volunteer, but the 30 slots have been taken, please do not take it personally, as the venue has specified that 30 people is our limit. Have a great weekend, and I hope to see you at the Happy Hour and at the Beerfest!
